Tiffany Haddish on Being the First Comedian in Sports Illustrated

Tiffany Haddish returned to Late Night with Seth Meyers and completely stole the show with nonstop laughs, outrageous stories, and a major career milestone she’s been manifesting since childhood. The Emmy- and Grammy-winning comedian, actress, and best-selling author known for hits like Girls Trip, The Afterparty, and Bad Boys: Ride or Die is officially one of the cover stars for the 2026 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue!

Tiffany walked onstage glowing with confidence and humor, joking that she’s “like an onion, darling  layer after layer,” while showing off her stunning cover look. She revealed that when she first agreed to the photoshoot, she was told she’d probably land a tiny section tucked away in a corner of the magazine but instead, she ended up making history as the very first comedian ever featured in the iconic swimsuit issue.

The actress hilariously explained that appearing in Sports Illustrated had actually been a lifelong dream dating back to her childhood track-and-field days, where she competed in high jump and shot put. Tiffany even shared that her grandmother, a trailblazing Black swimsuit model in California during the 1950s, unknowingly inspired her modeling dreams years ago. Despite being told she wasn’t “model tall,” Tiffany said she manifested the opportunity through pure belief, determination, and even recruiting fans to write handwritten letters to the magazine on her behalf.

The conversation quickly spiraled into classic Tiffany Haddish comedy as she joked about her “hunting season” at the NFL Honors, where athletes allegedly flooded her with phone numbers after she hilariously mispronounced New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel’s name as “Mike Variable.” Tiffany admitted she did background checks on every single athlete before texting them back, proudly declaring she’d spend $1,000 on investigations but “never more than $20 on a man.”

She also had the audience crying laughing while discussing her travels to Mexico for the swimsuit shoot, her obsession with “real sugar” Oreos outside America, and her fascination with koalas, turtles, and animal mating rituals during a wildly unfiltered segment that only Tiffany could pull off.

Later in the interview, Tiffany excitedly teased Girls Trip 2 and hilariously offered Seth Meyers a role as her smooth-talking, freeloading boyfriend. The pair even acted out a fake audition scene live on-air involving eggs, flirtation, and plenty of outrageous banter that had the audience in tears.

From comedy queen to swimsuit cover star, Tiffany Haddish continues proving there’s truly nobody else doing it quite like her.
