Mel B on Her Fairytale Weddings, Healing Journey & Dancing with Her Husband!

Mel B joins The Jennifer Hudson Show on Monday, May 18 gets heartfelt about finding love again! She opens up about her beautiful two wedding celebrations, dancing to Prince with her husband, and why this new chapter feels like a true fairytale after everything she’s overcome.

Mel B is also taking us all the way back to the Spice Girls era! She reflects on 30 years of “Wannabe,” writing her iconic rap in seconds, filming “Spice World” while recording an album, and what it was really like navigating global fame. Plus, Mel opens up about becoming a mom during the height of Spice Girls mania alongside Victoria Beckham and why the group’s message of girl power still resonates today.

She also chats about turning Simon Cowell into a piñata and giving him a Spice Girl name, to opening up about earning her honorary doctorate for her domestic violence advocacy. Plus, she shares why this major milestone would’ve made her dad so proud.

Mel B opened up about feeling unexpectedly nervous before stepping out on stage, admitting that even now, the butterflies still hit because she genuinely cares and deeply appreciates the audience. Though the “spirit tunnel” moment felt overwhelming at first, she said she eventually embraced the energy, felt all the love in the room, and simply went for it.

The conversation then shifted to her recent marriage celebrations, where she revealed she actually had two weddings. Mel shared that after surviving a difficult 10-year abusive marriage, losing her father, and navigating menopause, she never imagined she would find love again. But then, as she described it, “the love of my life” entered the picture someone who had already been part of her family circle for years.

She also reflected on receiving an MBE from Prince William for her advocacy work raising awareness about domestic violence. Because of the honor, she was able to marry at St. Paul’s Cathedral, famously known as the place where Princess Diana wed. Mel joked that while one side of her loves the elegance and royal tradition, another side is still “a little bit ghetto fabulous,” which inspired the couple to host a second celebration in Morocco a deeply sentimental destination since it was the last place she vacationed with her father before he passed away.

Their Moroccan wedding turned into a weeklong celebration with close friends and family, creating two completely different but equally meaningful experiences.

When asked about their first dance, Mel hilariously referenced the Spice Girls lyric, “If you can’t dance, you can’t do other stuff,” making it very clear that her husband definitely knows how to dance. Their first song was I Would Die 4 U by Prince a song they love blasting at home together. Instead of a choreographed routine, the couple simply let loose and danced wildly, something Mel said perfectly reflected their relationship and how deeply they love one another.
