Celebrity Style: Viola Davis’ Black & White Set On Jimmy Fallon
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, host Jimmy Fallon welcomed award-winning actress Viola Davis for a lively and heartfelt sit-down conversation that had the audience laughing and cheering throughout the segment.
Fallon kicked things off by warmly greeting Davis and sharing how much he enjoys having her on the show. “Thank you! One of my favorites. They love you. We love you. Welcome,” he said, setting a joyful tone for the interview. Davis quickly leaned into the moment with her signature humor, joking, “I love being loved.” The two shared their natural chemistry, noting that they always seem to find fun topics to talk about whenever she visits.
Fallon also took a moment to acknowledge Davis’ recent milestone birthday, wishing her a happy belated 60th. Reflecting on the experience, Davis joked that she initially felt like she had “skied into 60” and was celebrating the moment with excitement. However, she playfully added that now she feels like she might be on the “downward turn,” which Fallon immediately dismissed. He reminded her that she is still thriving creatively and professionally, especially with her newest venture writing novels with bestselling author James Patterson.
The conversation soon turned to a viral moment that had fans talking online. Davis had recently attended the Actor Awards and presented the Best Actor honor to Michael B. Jordan. When Fallon brought up the clip, Davis burst into laughter, wondering why the cameras had captured her with her mouth wide open in excitement. She jokingly compared herself to “that auntie at the party that’s had one too many beers,” the relative who gets a little too enthusiastic during celebrations.
Davis continued the playful comparison, saying she’s also like the overly passionate parent at a youth soccer game the kind referees have to warn to calm down before things get out of hand. Despite poking fun at herself, she explained that the moment was truly about celebrating others in the room. In fact, she admitted that she got so caught up in the excitement that she accidentally ripped her dress open during the festivities but laughed it off, assuring Fallon that everything turned out just fine.
Fallon then pulled up a photo from one of Davis’ most iconic moments her Academy Award win. While the glamorous image showed her looking flawless on stage, Davis revealed a surprising detail about the outfit. Underneath that stunning gown, she was actually wearing custom-made platform sneakers that were nearly seven inches high. Those shoes, she joked, are one of the things she remembers most vividly from that unforgettable night.
The dress later became part of Davis’ wax figure at Madame Tussauds, which led the conversation into another humorous story. Davis admitted that seeing the incredibly lifelike statue of herself was both fascinating and unsettling. As people asked her to say a few words during the unveiling, she confessed that she was so shocked by the realism that she couldn’t speak at all. The figure captured everything from the ring on her finger to the smallest details of her face.
One of the strangest parts of the wax figure process, she said, was choosing the eyes. Davis recalled being shown what looked like a suitcase filled with dozens of eyeballs so the artists could match the exact shade. The experience felt bizarre but also impressive, as the artists worked meticulously to recreate every feature.
Still, Davis couldn’t resist having a little fun with it. Embracing the “fun auntie” energy she joked about earlier, she proudly declared that she believes she has the best wax figure at Madame Tussauds. She laughed and said that maybe actor Jeff Goldblum comes in a close second but insisted that visitors to the Los Angeles location would see hers stands out the most.
The conversation then shifted to Davis’ latest project: her new novel Judge Stone, which she co-wrote with bestselling author James Patterson. Fallon congratulated her on the accomplishment, noting that Davis has already achieved so much throughout her career. She is one of the few performers to achieve EGOT status, having won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. In addition to acting, she has also released a bestselling memoir and a children’s book.
Despite the long list of accolades, Davis kept things humble and humorous. She joked that there are still many things she can’t do particularly well like driving. She explained that the collaboration with Patterson came about when her agent asked if she’d be interested in working with the prolific author. Once she heard the premise of the story, she immediately knew it was something she wanted to be part of.
Soon the two were exchanging ideas and notes on the book even while Davis was driving her daughter to soccer practice. She laughed about the multitasking, admitting that giving creative notes while driving probably wasn’t the safest habit.
As for the story itself, Judge Stone explores serious and complex themes. Davis described the plot as centering on a 13-year-old girl who becomes pregnant after being assaulted and decides to have an abortion. The doctor who performs the procedure is later charged with murder and faces a possible 99-year prison sentence. The case unfolds in a small Alabama town and develops into an intense courtroom drama filled with moral dilemmas and emotional stakes.
After hearing the premise, Fallon quickly suggested the story would make a compelling television series. While Davis laughed about people always wanting to turn books into shows right away, she admitted that the material could work well as a limited series and that she would love the opportunity to portray the powerful Judge Stone herself.
As the interview wrapped up, Fallon praised Davis for continually expanding her creative horizons and pushing herself into new artistic territory. Whether she’s acting on screen, writing books, or taking on new challenges, Davis continues to inspire audiences with her talent, humor, and authenticity. Fallon encouraged viewers to check out Judge Stone, now available everywhere, as the audience erupted in applause.
Viola Davis looked absolutely stunning, stepping out in a sparkling two-piece black ensemble that blended classic elegance with modern glamour. She wore a cropped tweed top delicately embroidered with pearls and shimmering sequins, paired with coordinating tailored pants for a sleek, polished look.
The chic top featured short sleeves and a concealed button placket, along with a striking detachable jewelry collar that added a bold touch of sparkle. The sophisticated design, created by Sandro Paris, perfectly balanced timeless tweed with dazzling rhinestone accents, making the outfit both refined and fashion-forward.
