The Peri Peri Grill In Downtown Atlanta

The Peri Peri Grill, which offers a creative menu centered on the Peri Peri spice sauces originating from the African bird’s eye chili pepper, is now open in downtown Atlanta near Centennial Olympic Park. The new eatery brings a fusion of African and Portuguese influences in a bold, new, welcoming restaurant option to tourists enjoying the city’s downtown attractions, workers looking for a new lunch spot, as well as Atlanta food enthusiasts seeking a new culinary adventure. With an emphasis on customization, diners craft their own dishes tailored to their preferences, with a focus on using fresh, wholesome ingredients for those seeking healthier dining options.

I stopped by over the weekend and really enjoyed my experience! The food was very tasteful, flavorful and the owners put it in a great location! See some of the entrees I picked out and stop by if you’re in the area! More inside…

The Peri Peri Grill at 280 Luckie Street is a flexible 5,000 square foot space. The main level offers a menu with creative Portuguese-inspired, flame-grilled cuisine paired with eclectic sides uniquely customized with any of six distinct signature sauces derived from the spicy, garlicy, tangy, lemony Peri Peri spice. Peri Peri is Swahili for “pepper pepper.”

The second floor of The Peri Peri Grill downtown features a gathering space perfect for business meetings, special events, after-work gatherings or celebrations such as anniversaries and birthdays. The physical space is flexible with ample seating and adaptable arrangements, all designed with a charming, welcoming ambiance and a full complement of creative catering options.

The restaurant concept was started by three friends, Noman Mirza, Amir Jeelani, and Sohail Lakhani. Noman, a self-trained chef relocated from Texas to Atlanta and brought deep and diverse culinary expertise as well as a strong affinity for the Peri Peri spice. Over the years, he tirelessly worked on and perfected the recipes that would become the heart and soul of The Peri Peri Grill. Amir, with his operational and management background, contributed the strategic insights necessary to translate their dreams into reality, while Sohail, with his extensive restaurant experience, added a deep understanding of the dining industry.

Peri Peri Chicken is the heart and soul of the menu, and the new, downtown location will introduce Whole Chicken on a Bed of Rice for a hearty and satisfying meal as well as Wings in a Bucket. Other Peri Peri grilled favorites include falafel and the signature Peri Peri Beef Burger. Eclectic sides include Peri Peri fries, rice and Peri-Mayo corn. The restaurant’s six signature sauces include Peri Peri White (creamy with a mildly spicy kick), Garlic Herb Parmesan (rich and savory), Lemon Herb Sauce (refreshing zesty blend of citrus and herbs), Mild (an ideal balance, mild yet flavorful), Pure Garlic, and Hot/Extra Hot (for hard core spice lovers).

“We are really blessed to open The Peri Peri Grill in downtown Atlanta for a multitude of reasons,” said Amir Jeelani, co-owner. “Whoever comes we will greet wholeheartedly because we want people to experience Peri Peri Grill’s embodiment of cultural fusion and the culinary journey wrapped in a welcoming, gathering place for our guests.”

The Peri Peri Grill’s fast casual concept ensures both quick service, top-quality food and a customized menu, tailored to a guest’s personal taste, dietary restrictions, and food allergies. Catering and to go is available from both locations so guests can enjoy the creative fusion cuisine anywhere, including at home.
