The other day (September 28th), I celebrated my birthday and it was undeniably a bittersweet celebration.
It was my first birthday without my father and my first birthday without getting that call from him. On the 27th, I was way more emotional than I thought I’d be, crying at the drop of a hat. I’ve been told that when that wave comes over you, to just let yourself feel it, so I did just that. I get why people say that; after a day of crying, I felt lighter and the next day, my actual birthday, I was able to truly enjoy it. Keith and I dined at Lilia, a restaurant I’ve been dying to go to (more on that below) and we just had such a nice day. On Thursday, I’m getting together with a few of my best girlfriends, something I’m really looking forward to.
As I’ve been doing for the last few months, below are a few things that made up my month of September.
Reading & Cooking:
Alex’s cookbook has quickly become our favorite and the one I use the most. Every recipe that I’ve made has been such a hit and I find myself wanting to make them over and over again. I also love that the recipes are incredibly flavorful, yet healthy!
Dining:
In the last month or so, we’ve taken advantage of NYC’s outdoor dining and have had some incredible meals. As I mentioned above, Thursday night we celebrated my birthday with dinner at Lilia, reservations I happened to snag on RESY the morning of. Another favorite has been Don Angie where we got lucky to dine at twice!
Buying:
Mango has 30% off everything! I’ve purchased quite a few things from there that I’ve absolutely loved. For example: this double breasted wool coat, this wool coat and this block turtleneck sweater -are just a few of my favorites. For a lounge suit, I love this one.
Inspired By:
I’m always inspired by neutral hues, but in the year of 2020, I’ve definitely been gravitating more towards comfortable layers way more than I have in the past. I love this look so much and feel like it could be achieved with this coat, this knit and these pants.
Trying:
Augustinus Bader came out with two new products: an exfoliating toner and a face oil, that I’ve excitedly been trying out.
Watching:
We recently finished watching ‘I’m Sorry’ and it was such a great watch. The writing is fantastic and I found myself laughing out loud so many times. I heard that due to Covid costs, it’s not getting picked back up, so don’t get too attached. With that being said, I’d still recommend watching the first two seasons. We watched on Netflix!

And incase you missed it and are interested, here’s what was happening in July and in August.
